Most of my artist time I share between painting in acrylics and encaustic wax. In the past my art has been realism, however, I have recently been intrigued by abstraction and much of my new abstract work underlies the concept of movement and water. I am trying to convey my reality, what moves me, my life around me in a way that will engage the viewer in sharing the illusion. Reality is always subject to interpretation.
When I work in acrylics I love the freedom and spontaneity of mark making. It is much different then the slow process of layering hot wax in Encaustics but the unexpected magic moments and the smell of hot bees wax is intoxicating.
The ultimate goal for me now is to seek truth in my art and be unafraid to share what I find.
